Atelier Ace sought a new way to welcome guests to their boutique property in NYC, Sister City. Working closely with music technologists, Microsoft, and experimental musician Julianna Barwick, Listen created an AI-powered generative music soundtrack that scored the hotel’s lobby. We trained the AI to recognize certain events captured by a camera on Sister City’s roof, bringing a calmer version of the hotel’s surroundings, within. A year after its installation, we updated the technology and welcomed a new contributor, Björk. Working with excerpts from various choral arrangements she had composed over the years, we launched Kórsafn.
As Creative Director on this project, I not only helped come up with the original installation concept, but I also led creative storytelling elements across Microsoft, Ace, and artist channels.
